Installing a dishwasher

A dishwasher comes with the manufacture's installation instructions, read and follow these exactly. The instructions given listed here are intended to be a universal guide so that you will know very well what is involved. A water supply tube connects a dishwasher to your kitchen sink's hot water supply. A flex hose drains waste water from your dishwasher to both the sink trap or, if you have one, a garbage disposal. The easiest drain setup, is to attach the dishwashers drain line directly into the sink's trap. To do this, replace a part of the sinks drain tailpiece using a dishwasher tailpiece, which includes a short T-shape nipple that connects to the dishwasher drain hose. Discontinue the bottom of your sink's tailpiece using a hacksaw or tubing cutter, and attach the new tailpiece by means of slip nuts also washer. If your sink has a disposal, connect the drain hose to your dishwasher inlet positioned at the disposal. If you might be tying in to a disposal that has never been connected with a dishwasher, unplug it or shut down its circuit, and use an old screwdriver to punch out the knockout plug, which is inside the dishwasher nipple. If you are replacing a dishwasher, remove the old one then, reversing the installation directions. Be sure to turn off the power to the sink-area circuits plus the water supply at the main house shutoff. Drain the supply lines by opening a faucet. Following installation, adjust the dishwashers front feet to level the appliance and align it with the cabinets and countertop. With the screws supplied, anchor the unit to your underside of the counter. Restore the water pressure, and test for leaks. Install the dishwasher front panel. Plug in (or hardwire) the unit.

1. In your sink cabinet look and see if you need a shut off valve for the dishwasher if you do take the old one off and install a new one that has a double shut off on it but first you have to turn off the main water line to the house. You may need a pail to catch the water and a rag to clean up the water.

2. Drill holes in the rear corner of your sink base cabinet for the drain hose also the copper water line, and power cord. Put the drain hose copper water line and the electric cord through the holes you drill As you walk the dishwasher into position, be careful not to pinch your hoses.

 3. Now it is time to connect the copper water line to the shut off valve you will need a wrench. Next connect the drain line to the sink drain or garbage disposal you will need a hose clamp for this job. Plug in the electric cord and yor are ready to go. Great job on your dishwasher installation
