How to solder copper pipes and fittings

1. Position the tubing cutter over the pipe next tighten the handle as a result that the pipe rests on both rollers as well as the cutting wheel is on the marked line. Turn the tubing cutter, tightening the handle slightly following every two rotations, until the cut is complete clean.

2. Eliminate sharp metal burrs from the inside edge of the cut pipe, using the reaming point on the tubing cutter.

 3. Clean the top of each copper pipe by sanding with emery cloth. Ends have to be free of dirt and grease. Clean inside every copper fitting.

4. Apply a thin layer of soldering paste to the ends of each copper pipe and inside of the fitting.

 5. Assemble each joint by inserting the copper pipe into the copper fitting.

6. Move the torch flame backwards and forwards and around the copper pipe and also the fitting to heat the area evenly.

7. As soon as solder melts, take away the torch and quickly push the solder in each joint. Capillary action fills the joint with liquid solder.
